FULL HONOURS.
FUNERAL OF CONSTABLE.
DEVOXPORT OFFICER
Full police honours were accorded the la.te Constable Francis William Mallabond, of 3, Lake Road, Devon port, at the funeral yesterday. Constable Mallabond, who had been stationed at Devonport since 1033, died at the Auckland Hospital on Wednesday.
A short service was conducted at the home of relatives in High Street, Devonport, by the Rev. A. M. Elliffe, and a further service was held for friends at the csliapel of H. Morris. Limited.
The funeral cortege then travelled by vehicular ferry to the city side of the harbour, where a full parade of members of the Aucklaiid Police Force had assembled. Headed by Senior-.Serjeant Dunsford, of Devonport, they marched with the procession for some distance along the waterfront towards Parnell, whence they travelled by bus to Purewa Cemetery, where the interment was held. A burial service was conducted there bv Mr. Klliffe.
Among a wealth of floral tributes which were received were an artificial wreath from officers and men of the -Auckland police, wreaths from members of the Auckland detective staff, the Xorth Shore police, and the Devonport Municipal Fire Brigade.
The police representatives at the funeral included Mr. D. C. Fraser, superintendent at Auckland, Inspector R. Ward, Inspector D. Scott, SubInspector M. Flanagan and Senior Sergeant D. L. Caldwell.
