BETTING SYSTEMS.
I In further, and. I hope, final reply to "In tlie Shade,*' I wish to say that I have n® desire to prolong a discussion between him-t-elf and me. Anyone who has ever been on |a racecourse knows perfectly -well that it quite possible to have two chances in one race with a 10/ note under the single pool arrangejment. For the life of me, I can't make ont why he expects me to answer for the Taktpuna Jockey Club's policy any more than I can for the Union Steam Ship Company. That [is their business. and if he really wants to know. I suggest that he get in touch with [the oluh itself. It may l>e that the members of that body a* individual* are of the same mind as "In the Shade'* and prefer their own «■;< vie on personal grounds. A change in the personnel to the number of two might produce a difference. Finally. I commend to the attention of "In the Shade"' the letter in the "Star" under the pen-name of "Looking Back." which practically voices my sentiments in the matter more coneiselv than I could do it. J. ORR.
