COUNCIL MEETING.

EASTERN SUBURBS MANAGER MR. W. J. DAVIDSON HONOUREDWelcoming Mr. John Quinlan, manager of the Eastern Suburbs team, at the meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby League, the president, Mr, J. A. Redwood referred to the goodwill and playing benefits of club tours, but at the same time hoped that these visit* yrould not tend to undermine or replace international tour* as bettveen the two countries. The council was delighted to receive Mr. Quinlan, and wished him and his boys a successful trip and good matches in spite of the fact that it waa hoped Auckland dubs would succeed.

Replying on the same lines as he addressed the Auckland Rugby League the previous evening. Mr. Quinlan gave rfssuranre that club tours would never, as far as New South Wales was concerned, be allowed to interfere with State, national, or International programmes or their arrangement. Regarding the present trip, he was not concerned so much about Tsnstern Suburbs winning as long as the tonm played well (applause). Mr. Redwood added that the council was very proud of the strength, prosperity and enterprise of the Auckland League, and it waa hoped that other leagues in the Dominion, particularly in the South Island, would soon be strong enough in public support and other ways to have visits from Australian clubs. It_ was not expected that international visit* could be arranged for between the two countries in other than alternate years. Presentation of Bluer. A h;ippy feature of the meeting was a presentation of a special inscribed blazer to Mr. W. J. Davidson in recognition of lux seven years on the council from 1930,
