SUDDEN DEATH.
CORONER OPENS INQUEST.
BROTHER-IN-LAW'S EVIDENCE.

GISBORNE, Wednesdav.
An inquest into the sudden death in the Cook Hospital of John Ellio Hanna, aged 41, was opened by the Coroner, Mr. A. L. Walton, S.M., to-day. A brother-in-law of deceased, Alfred Thomas Webber, union secretary, said that on Sunday be called to take his brother-in-law for a, drive, but Hanna declined, saying he would rather rest on account of his headache. Since an accident he had complained several times of severe headaches. He told witness that about ten weeks ago he was putting a barrel of beer ito the luggage carrier of a car and the lid of the carrier fell and struck him on the head. Deceased, a strong man, had kept in the* best of health until the time of the accident. During the war Hanna served in the Ist Battalion of the Canterbury Infantry, and on his return to the Dominion was a Poverty Bay representative Soccer player for several seasons between 1920 and 1930. He is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
