PUBLIC TELEPHONES.
POSITION AT DEVOKPOHT.
Details of a proposal to erect a double-booth telephone cabinet in place of the present single-booth cabinet at the entrance to the ferry wharf at Devonport were received last night by the Devonport Borough Council from the Post and Telegraph Department.
In receiving the letter, the council discussed the desirability of another telephone booth further along the wharf for the convenience of vehicular ferry patrons. It was also decided to investigate the position generally in the borough as far as public telephones were concerned, with a view to reporting to the Department.
For that purpose a email committee was set up, consisting of Mr. T. C. Hobbs -Jones and the borough engineer Mr. A. T. Griffiths.
