SMART SPRINTS.

FISHER AND MUNOA TANGI.

EPSOM TRAINING. Smart sprints were recorded at Epsom thia morning by Fisher and Munga Tangi. both horses running the last half mile of a two miles work-out in 1.6 2-s—time which they could have improved upon if allowed by their drivers to do 60. The dirt track was in first-class condition for training operations; in fact, all the tracks at Epsom are now at their best, and, if it does not rain heavily before Saturday, the grass course proper will be a boon to owners and trainers who hare entered horses for the matinee meeting which is to be held on the following Saturday. Fisher < A. Paton), Lucky Love (W. Willetts) and Munga Tangi (L. Laver) went off almost on terms for a two miles journey, and there was never much between them until they entered on the last half mile. Munga Tangi then joined Fisher in the lead, and they spurted home in 1.6 2-5. Lucky Love was only a short distance away. The time for the full distance was 4.47%.

Pukemiro (Fleming), who was nnhoopled, went away from the mile-and-a-quarter post with Poste Haste (L. .T. Mahoney) and Floral Huon (J. Mahoney). but he broke on a couple of occasions and was eased after covering a mile. Post Haste, who has improved greatly in appearance during the last few weeks, led his stable companion throughout in 3.5. the last half mile taking 1.11. He was going very easily all the way. After going half a mile, Kewpie's Triumph (Bell) was joined by Kewpie's Queen (W. Gee) and the last-named paced very evenly to lead him over a mile and a half in 3.34. the first half mile taking 1.8. Kewpie's Triumph took 4.50 for the twta miles. Petite .Tewel (W. H. Andrews) indulged Tommy McElwyn (A. McKenzie) in tiie lead for a mile and a half, and then led him to the end of two miles in 4.51, the last half mile taking 1.11. Young Rodney (L. Laver) was under a strong hold to keep with Rere Oro (J. Simkin) in getting over a mile in 2.2". The last half mile was put past in 1.10. Rere Oro is improving.
