Tribute To Retiring
President
"There are now 48 branches with an enrolled membership of 3077, attending 220 l and new 278," states the anr.unl report of the Auckland Provincial Leo«ue of Mothers, which will he presented" at the annual meeting to be held in the Y.W.C.A. assembly hall to-morrow. It is also stated that three new branches had been formed—YVaihi, Te Puke and West mere. Appreciation of the work done by Mrs. C. 11. Furnefis for the league is recorded. Mrs. H. Turners report on the magazine department states thaf 39 branches are taking tlie ina«iizine. len brandies have increased their subscriber*, and 24 have rcnnrnwl the same. The finances are in a jrood tion.
During the year the president and secretary had visited the following branches: Awhitu. Gisbornc. Roto; na. Tauranga, Tauriko, Te Puke. Waihi, Waikare and Whakatane. Tt is felt that these visits have been the means of cementing the link between town and country branches, and undoubtedly country members derive great benefit from these vi-site.
Mre. S. O. English will retire from office to-morrow after six years of faithful Bervice to the league. Tribute to Mrs. English's unselfish devotion is paid in the report, which states that during her term of office the league*lias grown and has been strengthened by her wisdom, her personality and her enthusiasm. Mrs. English has visited all the country branches, and has made the link between town and country a very vital thing.
