"Ex-Victoria" ask« me if T believe that "any product of New Zealand's educational system is necessarily a Communistic adherent. No. not necessarily. But T do believe that of recent years the product of Xew Zealand"-: university system has become increasingly receptive to Communistic ideas. Further, I will stake my opinion that if there is one body more than another which is responsible for giving academic status in the eye? of youncr people to those subversive ideas on eoeial. moral and religiou* institutions which they pick up from "movements" around them, anl for flattering them that in accepting these ideas uncritically they are sufficiently qualifying themselves as orisrinal thinkers an<l scholars, it is that well-known Wellington establishment for the perpetuation of adolescent mentality from behind whose name your correspondent prefers to snipe. The more tin , products and admirers of such methods continue to insinuate themselves into the counsels of the other colleges, the graver cause wil! thoiisrhtful citizens be given to ask themselves whether on the balance the university institutions of the country are to be reckoned a pubVi • asset or a public liability.
