LONDON, September 3
After searching for houre for hie pet wire-haired terrier, Zip, Mr. Henry Albert Breathwaite, stationmaeter at Tilton-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire, gave his dog up for lost. Zip had disappeared after chasing a rabbit into a culI vert.
Next day he thought of hie farmer friend, Mr. Jack Walker, who had made a reputation for himeelf as a water diviner. He hurried to Mr. Walker's house. The doweer took one of Zip'e collars and a few hains from the dog's blanket. He then cut a hazel twig from a hedge and held the collar and haira in one hand. The twig jerked in the direction of the culvert. Mr. Walker held the twig over it. "He Is not down there," he said. He was about to give up the task when the twig quivered again and pointed towards a hill 50 yards away. They raced to the spot. "Dig where I am standing," said Mr. Walker. Five feet Idown, trapped under a large stone, was Zip, alive, but very weak. "He had apparently chased the rabbit out of the culvert and into the warren," Mr. Breathwaite said. "The hill is! riddled with holes, and the ventilation from them kept him alive."
