GAMING ACT.
PETITION TO AMEND.

- There has been a ready- and substantial response in Napier and Hastings to the petition which is being sponsored by racing interests to secure amendment* to the Gaming Act.: The which aeke for, (a) legalisation of the double totalisator, (b) direction of "off the couree" investments through legalised channels, and (c) publication of dividends, has sponsored by the New Zealand Racing Owners, Breeders and Trainers' Association, with the endorsement of the New Zealand Racing Conference. , • It is being vigorously promoted in Hawke's Bay by racing interest*, a representative of which described its requests as "a common sense alteration to the existing law, which is a sham and a farce, anyhow."
