PROMISES FULFILLED.
CLAIM BY MR. P. WEBB
(By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) HOKITIKA, this day. The Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. Webb, and Mr. J. O'Brien, Labour candidate for Westland, addressed a large attendance at Princess Theatre last evening, receiving a fine reception. The performances of the Labour party were dealt with lengthily by the Minister, who claimed that every promise of the platform of three years ago had been carried into effect.
Mr. O'Brien scathingly attacked the National party's policy, and referred to his work for Weetland as its member, claiming that he was the first member to introduce the Invalid and Pension*. Bill to Parliament.
A motion of thanks and confidence was passed to the speakers. Messrs. O'Brien and Webb are visiting other centres during the campaign to assist weaker candidates.
