NATIONAL PARTY BALLOT.

Mr. J. A. Govan has been selected by the National party to contest the Grey Lynn seat at the general election against Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Housing. This was the result of a ballot held lwt night, two others taking part—Mr. G. V. Mullenger, who was unsuccessful in the Auckland Went ballot, and Mr. J. A. C. MeCoiniuck, who had formerly announced his intention of entering the contest as an Independent.

Auckland Friendly Societies' Conference, president of the medical institute of that organisation, and vice-president of the dispensary. He contested the Auckland West seat at last election ae a member of the Democrat party. Four candidates contested the Grey Lynn seat in 1935, Mr. Lee obtaining a majority of 8012. The polling resulted: Mr. Lee, 9828; Mr. G. T. Wildish (National), 1816; Mr. H. B. M. Arthur (Democrat), 1290; Mr. H. Smith (Communist), 210.
