ENGINE-DRIVERS' AWARD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLIXGTOX, Sunday. Xo finality was reached when an application for a Dominion award to cover engine drivers employed by hospital boards was resumed before the Conciliation Commissioner in Wellington yesterday. A tentative agreement was made on hours of work, these to be 40 a week, spread over seven days of five shifts, no shift to be more than eight I hours.
The employers' wages offer to cover all workers was £5 a week for drivers with a second-class certificate and £4 17/6 a week for non-certificated workers. The union claimed £5 7/6 and £5 2/6 respectively. For holidays, sick leave and medical and surgical treatment, the employers offered conditions under the by-taws of the various hospital boards. The dispute was adjourned until October 21.
