LADIES' HOCKEY.
KKOCK-OUT TOtTBHBT. UNIVERSITY BKAT KIWI. The second round of the senior knockout championship was continued by the Auckland Indies' Hockey Association at Training College on Saturday. The weather was reject and the grounds conducive to good hockey. Spectators were not disappointed in the encounter between l.ntversitv and Kiwi, which proved to be close and exciting, the former winning by - goals to 1. Both tftims showed good combination and speed with University slightly superior in positional play. Pressing the attack. University eventually scored from a penaltv corner, the goal being splendldly shot bv Miss .T. McOeehie. Kiwi presented a solid defence, ■with Misses M. White and R. Alley being most prominent. In the sK-ond spell University's forceful plav resulted in another goal by Miss J. Rilke.v. Kiwi began a counter-attack, and on several occasions were unlucky not to score. In the last minute Miss Candy broke through the defence to find the net with n wing shot. Three teams only remain in the competition, namely Monnt Eden, Wesley and I'niversity. The third round of the intermediate knock-out championship resulted in the defeat of Mount Eden by Technical. The game was slow with neither team exhibiting skill nor combination. Miss <>. Stewart worked wc'.l for Mount Eden and was the best of the halves. In the tinal of the junior competition Wesley were successful, beating Clcved>>n with a creditable score. The. results were: —I'niversity 2. beat Kiwi 1: Technical .">. bear Mount Eden 2: Wesley 4, beat Clevedon 0.
