NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP.

The 1988 national skect championship tournament was held by the Metropolitan Gun Onto on their grounds at Mangere on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance, and some good scores were registered.

Maher <Putaruru) 18. In the second round A. E. Robinson improved bis form, breaking 24. giving him a total of 46, to win the championship outright. The winner holds the New Zealand Skeet Championship Cop for twelve months, and received a trophy order from tbe club, as well as a special trophy from the New Zealand Breweries, Limited.

r>. P. North finished with 23, a total of 44. and won tbe runner-up trophy. Third place was filled by R. G. White with If. 18—97. Other high scores were R. B. Wilson, 22, 13—35, and A. I* Byme 20. 15—35.

In a sweepstake round which followed. D. P. North broke the possible of 23. next highest being A. £. Robinson 22. E. TV. Colebrook 20, N. H. 19. and A. L. Byrne and 8. Woodroffe IS each.

A ten-target auto trap sweepstake was divided *>y I>. P. North. 17yds; A. E. Robin son, 13yds: N. H. Newcomb and R. B. Wilson, 12yds, all with the possible. The final match was a five-pair double rise, in which nine breaks each were secured by W. H. Wilson. A. t* Byrne, J. f,C. Whitney and D. P. North.
