WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION.
BIRKENHEAD GATHERING,
An enjoyable social evening was held in the Returned Soldiers' Hall in connection with the September gathering of the Birkenhead Women's Association. The president, Mrs. E. J. Osborne, Mayoress of Birkenhead, presided. The programme, which was greatly appreciated, was arranged by Mr. Robert Simmers, and included songs by Mr. Harry Dallimore, vocal duets by Mrs. M. Collicoat and Miss Beth Carrick, and by Messrs. R. Simmers and H. Dallimore, and Miss Thoral Keefe gave elocutionary numbers and played a violin solo. The accompanist was Mrs, H. Bollard. Supper was served by the ladies' committee: Condolence on the death of Mrs. Johnston was passed with Mr. Edmund Johnston and family, the gathering standing in silence. A suggestion for the provision of a shelter for women and children at Highbury Corner was referred to the_Rorouph Council. .j^j
