Mr. W. A. Hislop, of Wellington, has returned south after a short business visit to Auckland. Mr. R. J. Elliott will he a passenger for Wellington by the Limited express on Sunday evening. Mr. C. O. Macindoe returned to Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. Mr. R. E. Price, conciliation commissioner, was a passenger by the early express from Wellington this morning. Mr. T. Pryde, secretary to tlie Southland Hospital Board, will retire on March 31 of next year after more than 30 years' service. The Hon. H. ('■. R. Seaman, a member of the executive, returned bv train from Wellington this morning. Mr. R. Marshall, who has recently been transferred on promotion from the position of stationniaster in charge at Nelson to that of chief clerk at Timaru, is visiting Auckland. lie will leave shortly to take up bia new duties. The Hons. E. R. Davis, E. Dye, .T. E. Duncan and B.' Martin, members of the Legislative Council, were passengers for Auckland by the Limited from Wellington this morning. The Hons. J. Cotter and R. Far, rcll have been selected as the Otago University nominees for Rhodes scholarwhips. Mr. Wade was educated at the Waitaki Boys' High School, and Mr. Farrell at the Otago Boys' High School. Both graduated Bachelor of Arts at the Otago University and distinguished themselves academically and in the field of sport. Mr. Farrell is president of the Otago University Dramatic Society. Mr. H. A. \ onng, S.M., chairman, and Mr. A. Robertson, postal employees' representative, of Chrtetchurch, Mr. G. A. Wilkes, of Oamaru, telegraph employs' representative, and Mr. E. A. Munden, of Wellington, secretary, all of the Post and Telegraph Appeal Board, arrived at Auckland last night after a brief sitting at Wliangarei. Mr. R. I. Allan, of Auckland, Government representative on the board, and Mr. L. L. Hills, of Wellington, chief inspector of and advocate for the Post and Telegraph Department, will accompany the-m. The board will remain in Auckland for about a week before leaving to continue sittings on the East Coast."
