LOST—A SONG
(By Iris Reeves, Olive Road, Green Bay.) Yesterday, I with pleasure heard, The 1 nippy song of a tiny bird, Filled with the joy of Irfe was he, As was his lilting melody. This morning I with sorrow found, fliin dead upon the ground. A liny form which once had owned, A song, a melody sweet toned. I Mroked him with a pitying hand. Nor scarce could fully understand, The bourne of that immortal song, fHiich recently to liim belonged. Did it hover yet around. The lifeless clay that 1 had found? Or had its loveliness fill lied. Now it's owner lay there dead? To bird heaven -the silver thing, There from an angel bird to ring.
