THE SWIMMING STAG.
When you read about the careful preparations which have to be made before an attempt to swim the Knflish Channel, you will be surprised to hear that once a stag actually performed this amazing feat.
Chased hv hounds, the desperate animal entered the sea at Brighton, and was later rescued near the French coftst by fishcrmen. It was comfortably housed afterwards in the residence of a gentleman at Paris Plage, and until its death some time later tli e stasr was an object of the greatest interest to visitors and the French population.
