VIEWS OF MR. SAVAGE
Ry Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday.
Further points regarding the general election were discussed in an interview this evening by the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage. Matters relating to the provisional and official couuts had not yet been finalised, Mr. Savage said. However, in all probability the provisional count would lie completed in the majority of cases before midnight oil election day, so that there would be no necessity for further work 011 the following day, which was a Sunday.
"Wo have chosen a Saturday for polling day because we think it should give general satisfaction," said Mr. Savage. "In a number of cases nowadays .Saturday is a full holiday, whi'e in practically all other *ascs it is a ha If-holiday. Coiisc«|uently thcrr should be no difficulty for people in getting time to vote. Saturday elections have proved highly successful in other countries, where thev are normally held."
