COMPENSATION GRANTED. CARPENTER'S ANKLE INJURED. Full compensation of £240 was awarded the plaintiff, Leslie James llyland, carpenter (Mr. Sullivan), in the Arbitration fourt. He proceeded against Thomas Clements, builder, of Otahuhu (Mr. Leary), in whose employ lie alleged lie had received a serious accident to his ankle when the adze he was using slipped. In that amount was included compensation for a further six months from the hearing to recover from his livsteria.
Mr. Justice O'Regan presided, and with him were Messrs. A. L. Monteith and W. Cecil Prime.
For the defence, 7V. M. A.xford and Dr. S. Morris contended that there was nothing organically wrong with TTvland, but, that lie was suffering from hysteria. He would recover, as soon as the case was settled, in from three to six months.
Sir Carriek Robertson, who was subpoenaed by the plaintiff in the latter st apron of the hearing, described the operation he hnd performed on the plaintiff's font.
