BELMONT MEETING.

A number of Belmont and Ba ye water ladies met in the Presbyterian Hall at Belmont this week to hear a most interesting address by Mrs. Wynn, secretary of the Auckland Women's branch of the Labour Party. Mrs. von Sturmor was elected chairwoman. The meeting discussed the formation of a ladies <rroup in the district. The committee formed consisted of Mesdames Cipnan, Hawking, refers, McCarthy, Tideran, Bavliss, Phillip* and Hawksworth. The guest of the afternoon was Mrs. W. J. Lyon. Afternoon tea was served by a band of willing workers, after which pianoforte «o!os and community singing rounded off a pleasant afternoon. PAPAKURA. An eri lyable card party was held by the P-pakura branch of the New Zealand Labour Party on Thursday evening, when sixty supporters were present. The prize-winners were:—Ladies, Mrs. J. Foftarty, gents, Mrs. Alexander. A special prize was also won by Mrs. Alexander. Consolation prizes were won by Miss A. Bates and Mr. A. Orum. EPEW BRANCH. The recently-formed women's group of the Eden branch of the Labour party held a meeting this week. A number of new members were welcomed. A "Treat deal of time wa« spent in constructive discussion, principally on the social security legislation and "maternity cervices bill. Arrangements for a bring-and-buv afternoon were finalised. Campaign activities are being carried on consistently by a capable Ifldiee' committee.
