NEARING FINALITY.

MORTGAGE COMMISSIONS.

FINISH EXPECTED IN DECEMBER.

(Br Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, Friday

"In accordance with the Govern- J ment's deaire to have all applications under the Mortgagors and Lessees' Rehabilitation Act disposed of before the end of the present calendar year, close touch has been maintained with the commissions and »uch rearrangements as have appeared necessary have been made from time to time," said the Minister of Justice, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, in an interview this evening. "In some cases commissions which have finished work in their own district have been used in a neighbouring district and in some cases new commissions have been appointed." The following is a statistical summary of the position throughout the Dominion: —

"The actual position is somewhat better than ia disclosed in these figures," said Mr. Mason. "The return? relate to orders drawn up and filed in the Court of Review, and of the 4731 cases left on hand an appreciable number have already been heard. December will see the finish, except for perhaps an odd ease and for cases reopened by the Court of Review."
