RESEARCH WORK.
AVCKLASD BUSIEST CUNXC. (From Our Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, Friday. Reference to the division of cancer research work between the four main centres of the Dominion was made today at the annual meeting of the Otago and Southland division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign. Speaking of the proposal that Auckland should be the centre or clearing house for cancer statistical research the chairman, Sir Louis Barnett, said Auckland had the largest hospital and the busiest clinic in New Zealand, and this plan would give it an appropriate share of the Dominion work organised by the Cancer Campaign and, perhaps, encourage citizens of that populous district to provide an appropriate share of the financial burden involved.
Professor E. F. D'Ath said Auckland now undertook the examination and correlation of the vast amount of statistics and data that had been accumulated with respect to the 7000 patients under investigation in the Dominion.
