SELECTION OF SITE.
PROVISION FOR SURVEY

WELLINGTON, Friday.
According to a Gazette notice the Auckland City Council has been constituted a recognised aviation authority under the Local Authorities Empowering (Aviation Encouragement) Act. The authority is for the purpose of the survey to be undertaken by the council aiW other local authorities for the selection of a municipal airport site. The survey, which will be undertaken in the vicinity of the Manukau Harbour, will cost about £2000 and the Government will contribute £1000 toward it. At a recent conference called by the City Council it wa» decided that the council should be gazetted only for the survey purpose at present.
