LADIES' OPEN GOLF TOURNEY.

HONOURS TO MRS. JOHNSTON. BETTERS HER HANDICAP. An open day was held by the Akarana Ladies' Golf Club yesterday under favourable weather conditions. More than 110 players took part.

The best senior gross score was returned by Mrs. H. V. Johnston, o* Manngakiekie, who played one under > her handicap to return a card of 83—10—73. The competition for the best net score resulted in a tie between Miss J. Edwards, Maungakiekie, with a score of 93—IS—-75, Mrs. lib F. Faram, Akarana, 00—15—75, and Miss B. Phillips, Akarana, J>l—l6—7s. Miss' Edwards won on the recount. Following were the next best cards:—Mrs. B. S. Whale. Titirangi, 85—0—76; Mrs. A. F. Walker, Maungakiekie, 94—18—76; Mrs. A. M. Kirk, Akarana, 105 —25—80; Mrs. R. H. Coltman, Akarana, 106—26 —80; Miss E. Wright, Akarana, 101—21—80. Miss Kirk won on the recount. The following were the next best scores. —Mrs. It. H. The foursome handicap match played in ,the afternoon over 12 boles resulted in a win for Miss J. Stewart, Whangarei, and Mrs. H. V. Johnston, Maungakiekie, with a card of 55—6—49. The first round of the foursomes competition resulted ; —Misses McCready and Waters beat Misses Rowly and Claudet, 5 and 4: Mrs. Kelly and Miss Crawford beat Mrs. Wallace and Mrs. Possenneskie, 1 up; Misses Sutherland and Hill beat Mrs. Muir and Miss Mellsop, 7 and 6; Mrs. Henderson iand Mrs. Amodeo beat Misses Wells and Raeside, 3 and 1; Misses Montgomerie beat Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Howard, 2 and 1; Mrs. Denby and Mrs. Eustace beat Mrs. James and Miss Muir, 2 up.

Tfhe'i Junior championship 'of the Pajjakurft; ladies' Golf Club was.won by Miss D. Charles, who beat Mrs. Moore in -the final, 7 and \-<6. In the semi-finals Mi«s D. Charley '.-. beat Miss B. Charles, 1 up, and Mrs. Moore beat Miss Thickett, 6 ami 5. The final of the senior championship, of the Papakura Ladies' Golf Club was won by Mrs. J. French, who beat Miss Walters. 4 and 2.
