WIFE KIDNAPPED.

15,000 Dollars Ransom Demanded. SOCIETY WOMAN ABDUCTED. (Received 9.30 a.m.) MARYSVILLE (Cali.), September 2. Two white-masked gunmen, entering her homo at midnight, kidnapped a socially prominent woman. Mrs. W. R. Meek. After binding and gagging her husband, they took her. at the point of a gun, to her husband's car and drove off, saying, '"You'll get your wife back when we get 10.000 dollars." Fragments of burned clothing and a blood-stained pillowslip found on the road near the Meek's home have increased the fears that the victim has been slain by her abductors. Previously the sheriff had given the opinion that it would be impossible to hide a woman alive in the thickly populated agricultural section hereabouts.
