AGREEMENT SIGNED.
Payments Pact Between Britain And Rumania. TAKES EFFECT THIS MONTH. British Official Wireless. (Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, September 2. Following the negotiations which have been taking place at Bucharest, tha new British-Rumanian payments agreement was signed at Bucharest on Friday. This replaces the existing payments and technical agreements between Britain and Rumania and will take effect on September 42. Owing to the reduced level of imports into Britain from Rumania during the past year money received into the British-Rumanian clearing have been insufficient to meet requirements of various subaccounts. Existing arrangements for utilisation of sterling proceeds of imports into Britain from Rumania accordingly have been modified with the object of stimulating exports from Rumania to Britain and so making vail&ble the increased amount of sterling f° r financial payments and for tho payment of Britain's exports to Eujn|?i*! . • '
