"Randy" Scott Makes Fateful Choice
LATEST Hollywood romance to go on the rocks is the marriage of film star Randolph Scott and his wife Mariona, owner of Battleship, this year's winner of the English Grand NationalAfter two and a half years of married life, declares Scott, who earns £500 a week in Hollywood, he has been forced to choose between his career and his wife. "The whole story," Scott says, is this: "Mariona never liked life in film circles. She is interested in her Tacing stable, goes everywhere attending race meetings, while I am tied to Hollywood. "But there is to be no sort of mudslinging. Our party will be a friendly affair because we consider it to be for the best. The divorce will come soon, but we are in no hurry, because no other parties are involved." Randolph Scott was regarded as Hollywood's "confirmed bachelor" when in August, 1936, news leaked out that five months earlier he had married Mrs. Mariona du Pont Somerville, a member of one of the world's richest families.
