BIG STRING.
C. S. DONALD'S TEAM. One of the biggest strings of trotters and pacers m commission in the Dominion is being handled, by C. S. Donald, at Belfast. He is preparing 25 horses for immediate engagements, and intends to commission 20 two-year-olds by Jack Potts in the near future. Last season, Donald's stable was very successful. Its candidates were 84 times in the money for 41 firsts, 27 seconds, and 16 thirds, and their efforts yielded £9792 in stakes. , Judged on the calibre of the present team; it is quite likely that Donald will repeat last .year's performance. In the pacers section there are Fhitun, Carver Doone, Guy, Jackaranda, Marlene, Bl ay don, Savoldi, Ferry Post, Mazaire, a brother Ho Twenty Grand, a brother to Marlene, a half-brother to Plutus and Agile. Th® two trotters Wahnooka aad Captain Bolt are also in regular work. The two imported sires, Jack Potts and Calumet Axworthy, are being exercised daily, and are big' and robust. The 20 two-year-olds by Jade Potts are a classy looking lot. Among them is a full brother to Blaydon, a brother to Superior Rank, and a brother to Blondie. There are eight yearlings on the farm by Calumet Axworthy, and it is doubtful if there has _ ever been a better looking, more promising collection of yearlings in the Dominion. They are moulded on almost perfect lines, and some are natural pacers and some are natural trotters. When started up in the paddock recently they showed good action, one colt in particular bounding into the trotting gait and exhibiting amazing speed for his age.
