BEEF SLIGHTLY FIRMER

The report of the Xew Zealand Meat Producers Board on the Smithfield market ior the week ended September 1 states that the lamb market continues very firm, and prices have further advanced. Consumption remains satisfactory 111 spite 0 f home-killed selling at the equivalent of our prices. Wethers and ewes are meeting with a better inquiry with lightweight wethers firmer. The chilled beef market is slightlj' firmer thi® week owing to good demand.
