A Recent Wedding.
HALE—WHITTAKER.
A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Unitarian Church, Ponsonby, recently when Mies Edith Sumner Whittaker, only ■ daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Whittaker, of Dickens Street, Grey Lynn, was married to Mr. Harry Vincent Hale, eldest 3on of Mr. and Mrs. H. Hale, of Dominion Road. The church was decorated for the occasion with pink camellias and arum lilies. The wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. C. R. Mitchell. The bride, who wore a tulle veil over her face as she entered the church, made a charming picture in & goWn of Ivorytinted satin. Cut on graceful, slender lines, the bride's frock was made with a swathed bodice and a slim-fitting skirt which fell at the back into a graceful pointed train. Tho bodice was made with buttons down the back, and the long, close-fitting sleeves fell to points over the wrists. The neckline of the frock wag made in a heart shape and was finished with two tiny posies of lilies of the valley. As well as the tulle face veil the bride wore a long flowing veil of honiton lace, which fell to the point of the train at the back. Her veils were held in place with a coronet of lily of the valley, and for a bouquet she carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Elva Willis and Miss Ailsa Thomson. They were dressed in attractive frocks of cyclamen-shaded net, worn over Marina green underslips, a combination of colours which formed an opal shade. Made on preeian lines, with full skirts and swathed bodices, the frocks were completed with V necklines and tiny swathed sleeves. In their hair the bridesmaids wore wreaths of irises, and they carried bouquets of irises with velvet ribbons of the same shade. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Jack Hale (a brother) as f best man, and Mr. Jack Hazlitt as groomsman. Following the wedding, a reception was held in the Farnell Tea Kiosk. Mrs. Whittaker, the bride's mother, received her guests wearing an ensemble of navy and white, with a navy straw hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of red cyclamen, daphne and red-tinted freesias. Mrs. H. Hale, mother of the bridegroom, was wearing a clover red ensemble with a matching hat. She carried a posy of daphne and violets. Mrs. X. Dimery, grandmother of the bride, wore a dahliacoloured ensemble, with a black fur coat and a black straw hat.
