The memorandum 4 will have special reference to the award of the New Zealand Musicians' Union, for which application was Mde this morning before Mr. Justice O'Regan and Messrs. A. 3U Monteith and W. Cecil Prime. Complete agreement was reported in the case and in another, that of the; New Zealand Federated Furniture Workers' Association. Mr. F. EJgerton appeased for the workers in the former ease, and Mr. A. Dixon in the latter case. Mr. J. B. Walton conducted the i case for the employers in both instances, i In connection with the musicians' 1 hearing, an application for exemption t was mentioned, and his Honor indicated 7** . «imilar applications had been i * »ade to the Court in the South, i he aaid, would be issuing * 3 pronouncement as to an interpretation gain" in section 154 of the I.C. and A. Act. (This section provides that no award shall affect the employment of any worker who is employed otherwise than for the direct or mdirect pecuniary gain of an employer.)
