BLOMFIELD BEATS MEEHAN
CHRIBTCHURCH, Thursday.
In the last round of a . professional | wrestling contest, Blomfield beat Meehan i to-night when the referee held that the 1 latter was too badly injured to continue.: Meehaa had taken a fall with a body press and Blomfield had. secured one with an octopus clamp. Meehan protested vehemently when the referee stopped the bout, claiming he was willing and able to go on.
OETTON WINS FROM MOEN.
In a wrestling bout at Hamilton last , night Detton (15.2) beat Moen (16.6) by one fall—a body press—in the seventh round following two dumps. The amateur preliminaries resulted:— H. Owens (Pirongia) 10.0, defeated S. Lye (Newstead) 10.4, by one fall; F. Lye (Tauwhare) 10.3, defeated D. Stevens (Tauwhare) 9.8, by one fall; M. Scott (Hamilton) 12.0, with D. Adams (Horotiu) 11.12, on points; L. Owens (Pirongia) 11.0, defeated L. Lye (Tauwhare) 10.8, by two falls; C. Lesley (Hamilton) 9.7, defeated L. Drew (Hamilton) 8.13, by ofie fall.
