Student Prince has resumed track work after a short respite. The gelding looks particularly well and will probably be taken to the Pakuranga meeting. Student Prince has previously performed well in the Auckland province and is likely to run prominently in the .lellicoe Handicap if started. The jumpers Cynical Kid and Bronze King have been taken out of training, the firstnamed being replaced by Valhalla, a hunter by Callaglian from Lady Xapper. He is being prepared for hunt meetings.

The three-year-old maiden Fiancee, in R. Brough's stable, will attract attention when paraded. By Siegfried from Betrothal, an unraced daughter of that one-time good performer Beloved, .this fillv is expected to turn out well. Though small, Fiancee is compactly built, with good action, and has always displayed speed. She is owned by Mr. H. E. Card, who formerly raced The Banker. Fiancee is due to race earlv.

O. Cox's three-year-olds Prince Quality mul Dark Kagle are getting through plenty of steady work and recently were stretclied out over two furlongs, both hitting out well. Both these horses have made good progress, and their prospects look very encoiirag-

Tlie two-year-olds Algerian and Kilometer, in the same stable, are well forward. and a few mornings ago sprinted two furlongs in 25 4-ss. The going was holding, and as a heavy gale militated against fast times it was an encouraging effort.

A smart gprint was performed by Winsome Lti, Silvanus and Kokako last Tuesday, Winsome Lu shading her companions at the end of two furlongs

in 255. Silvanus, who was having her first fast work since coming to Hawera, is doing nicely, and her prospects for the' season look bright. It will not surprise to see Silvanus proving capable over a distance. Kokako, the Hunting Son~— Hinewai three-year-old, Is developTn* into a fine-looking horse. He is a splen" mover, with abnnftance or power. E. George is keeping Alytl. goinc steadily, m view of the New Plyniouth and Wanganui fixtures. The daughter of Appellant is in first-rate order. The Resinous—Monaloff mare Golden Orchid has rejoined R. Brougli's stable after a lengthy spell and shows evidence of being well cared for during her respite. She is in good heart and should prove a useful stake-earner for the etable this season.

The Rabbi gelding Ramleh, who did not come in a« well as expected, is doing better now and putting plenty of energy into his work.

Notiurn is still on the easy list, but is to resume work next week.

A horse beginning to work impressively on the tracks is the Paladin— Sunbar gelding Flauberg. During the week he sprinted half a mile alone in 53 3-ss. This was his first serious gallop since coming to Hawera.
