CHINA RETALIATES.
Counter Offensive on Lunghai Railway. OPERATION TO DIVERT. (Received 2 p.m.) SHANGHAI, July 28. While the Japanese are steadily advancing on the Yangtse to Hankow, the Chinese have launched a counter offensive on the Lunghai railway, with the object of diverting Japanese pressure. They claim to have crossed the flood waters of the Yellow River and reached Kaifeng. the capital of Honan. j
Otlier Chinese troops, driven from Kiiikiang. have taken up new positions, strongly reinforced v from the rear.
Terrorist activity is spreading to Nanking. Bombs were thrown into the offices of the Japanese sponsored Nanking Government.
