HISTORIC PARTY.
Sir Maurice Hankey's Farewell T6 Whitehall. MANY FAMOUS MEN ATTEND. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 28. An historic party was lield at Whitehall this afternoon when Sir Maurice Hankey, who recently resigned from the positions of clerk to the Privy Council, principal secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat, and secretary to the Committee of Imperial Defence, attended his last Cabinet meeting before retiring on Saturday. Every politician who served in the successive Cabinets during his secretaryship was invited.
These included Mr. J. H. Thomas, Mr. Winston Churchill, Lord Parmoor, Lord Hewart, Lord Merrivale, Sir Auckland Geddes, as well as civil servants and defence chiefs.
