FRUIT PLENTIFUL ISLAND ORANGES ARRIVE. MOST VEGETABLES CHEAPER. Oranges and tomatoes which arrived roni the Cook Islands yesterday gave nore interest to the fruit sales to-day. L'he Island oranges were in fairly good •ondition and met with a ready demand, >riees ranging from 9/ to 18/ per case, iccording to the size of the fruit and the sland of origin. Bananas sold cheaply. Local fruit remained very slow of sale, specially apples, of which there was a arge supply. Lemons and Xew Zealand rrapefruit were also still very difficult to sell at low prices. A few odd boxes of lothouse grapes were offered and realised ery high prices. Tree tomatoes sold at •heaper rates. The ilaunganui brought a small shipment of Tongan bananas to-dav and t ir\watea arrived this afternoon with a resh shipment of Queensland pineapples ind also further supplies of Australian >ranges. Supplies of vegetables were gcnerallv i-ery heavy to-day, but there was a ver'v [low demand in contrast with vestcrdav Labbagcs and cauliflowers are now quite plentiful and prices considerably lower than for som P months. It is not expected However, that values will reach anv low evels at least for some time. Potatoes, -arrets and pumpkins have bees in over•upply for some time, with prices low.
