SHEEP OWNERS' ATTITUDE.
FEDERATION'S DECISIONS.

WELLINGTON, Thursday. The annual meeting of the Sheep Owners' Federation was concluded io-day. The Royal Agricultural Society's request that the Government should subsidise the cost of importations of approved stock from Great Britain into New Zealand along the lines in Australia was 1 , fully endorsed. . With regard to the question of adequate shipping for chilled beef, the president, Mr. Acland, explained the difficulties of last season due to the Coronation traffic, and other factors. The indications, he said, were that less difficulties would be experienced in the comin" year. . °
The assistance of the appropriate Government Department is to be sought jn the matter of private tree planting jn timber scarce areas for shelter, and also for timber. The plight of high country runholders in the South Island was stressed by several speakers. A resolution was carried with regard to indiscriminate shooting and tnrbance of stock, particularly at lambing times.
