AUCKLAND CLUB. THE ELLERSLIE COURSE. MORE IMPROVEMENT TO BE MADE, The report to be submitted to the i annual meeting of the Auckland Racing Club next Monday week states that the | committee has pleasure in congratulating : members upon the success which had I attended the season's operations. The [club's financial, position had been materially strengthened and, in view thereof, the committee was now carefully considering the prosecution of the scheme of improvements at Ellerslie outlined at previous meetings of the club. This scheme would include the provision of increased accommodation for members, additional grandstand arrangements and other essential works which in their opinion would prove beneficial not only to members but also to patrons of the club and racing interests.

The committee was pleased to be able to inform members of the approval by the Minister of Internal Affairs and New Zealand Racing Conference to the finalising of the merger of the Takapuna Jockey Club with the Auckland Racing Club, and the consequent transfer to it of the dates and totalisator permits hitherto held by the Takapuna Jockev Club.

Mr. Oliver Nicholson and Dr. A. McGregor Grant'were the only nominees for the offices of president* and vicepresident, respectively, and Messrs Brian L. Hewitt, M. J. Lynch and Eric H. Nolan for the three seats as stewards, and they Mould be declared duly elected unopposed. The Hon. Eliot Davis and Messrs. Fred Earl, K.C.. M. M. Louisson, W. Claud Motion, M. M. McCallum (the retiring committee members) and L. C. Rathbone had been nominated for the vacancies on the committee. As there were only five vacancies to be filled an election would be necessary.
