LAMB PRICES STEADY. EASING IN CHILLED BEEF. The report of the New Zealand Meat Producere' Board covering the Smithfield Market for the week ended July 14 states that, the tendency of the lamb market is steady, excepting second quality, and consumption continues \good. With heavier supplies wethers and ewes are weaker. Chilled beef is slightly easier on account of warm weather, while New Zealand light-weight porker pige are firmer, but trade slow. The baconer .pig market is steady and unchanged. Quotations arc:— Sheep.—New Zealand crossbred wethers aiul/or maiden ewes, 49/561b, sY*d; 57/641b, od; 65/721b, 4?4d. Ewee, 481b and under, 3%d. Lambs.—New Zealand, Canterbury, second quality, average about 311b, 6%d. New Zealand and Australian frozen beef are unquoted. Xew Zealand porker pigs, first quality, 61/SOIb, 6%d. Chilled beef prices are approximate averages revised for the week:—Australian hinds, od; Union of South Africa hind?, 5%d; fores, 3%d; Southern Rhodesia hinds 4%d, fores 2%d; Argentine hinds, 6%d; Uruguayan hinds, 5%d.
