PROMINENT OWNER.
J. R. McKENZIE'S HORSES.
PROMISING PACERS,
During tlie first half of, the present season Mr. J. R. McKenzie's trotters and pacers promised to place their owner near the top of the honours list, but later some of the horses lost their form and were given a spell. The decision was a wise one (says the Chrietchureh "'Star-Sun, "J for with Gallant Knight, U Scot and Refund further successes have only been delayed, and the prospects for the new season are bright. Of the nineteen placings gained by the Roydon Lodge team, eight firsts and one second were recorded between ; August and December 1. Since then they have secured one victory, and have been nine times placed. Their total contribution to the upkeep of their establishment was £2740. At present F. C. Duulevey is training eight pacers for Mr. McKenzie. U Scott has wintered well, but lie has injured a foot that has given trouble previously and will not race for some time. Gallant Knight has regained his health and looks like reproducing his real worth next summer. When at his beet he is a very capable pacer, and no journey is too far for him. Refund has also recovered from an indipositiem that affected him prior to the New Zealand Derby Stakes, and it is only a question of his coming right to win several contests. Double Great. All Great and Dolores Silk bear a healthy appearance. Dunlevey also has two good-looking two-year-old fillies in work. One is Virginia Girl, by Great Bingen from Xyallo, the dam of Taxpayer, and the other is Rosalind Maid, by Great Bingen from May Chenault.
