Australian Davis Cup Team Reaches Kansas City.

ALL MEMBERS OVERWEIGHT. (Received 11 a.m.) KANSAS CITY, July 14. The Australian Davis ■ Cup team arrived here in excellent condition and good spirits. The manager, Mr. Harry Hopman, was worried -by the delay in the delivery of luggage., racquets and tennis clothes I from California. He said it might cause ' a delay of one or two days' practice. j Mr. Hopman expressed the belief that the 100-degree temperatures characteristic here in the summer would be a big help in getting the team into condition and taking off excess weight. All the players were overweight, due to lack of regular practice.

The members of .the team will play squash racquets to-day and to-morrow until their luggage arrives.

Adrian Quist said the Kansas City climate was definitely superior to that of Mexico. "I am sure the team can make a better showing than last year," he said.

Observers close to the team say that Hopman intends to play Quist and Bromwich in the singles and doubles against America, although both Schwartz and Hopman have undergone equally rigorous practice and training in order to be ready to substitute in the event of illness. I
