VESSEL WITHDRAWN.
(Received 12 noon.) TOKYO, July 14. A further contraction in the JapanNew Zealand shipping service by the Osaka Syosen Kaisya Line is caused by the Melbourne Maru being transferred to the- Bombay route and not being replaced.
The Melbourne Maru, a motor ehip of 5432 tons, ie well known at Auckland, and was here on June 8, sailing for Japan from Lyttelton on June 22. The vessel is about nine years old, and has made 33 tround voyages to Australia and New Zealand in that time. The local agents, the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., were notified last month that the Melbourne Maru would be withdrawn for one voyage only.
