TOUR NEW ZEALAND.
Entire Covent Garden Russian Ballet Company. £3000 A WEEK EXPENSES. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 14. J. C. Williamson Australia and New Zealand Theatres, Limited, has engaged the entire Covent Garden Russian ballet company of 70 with all costumes and scenery. They will embark on the Maloja on August 19, a week after the close of the London season.
The company has a repertoire of 30 ballets, 11 of which have hitherto not been produced in Australia or New Zealand. The stars include Baranova, Kiabouehinska and Denissova, and among the males, Lichine, Petroft and Jasiusky.
The running costs will be £3000 a week, which will necessitate higher prices.
