GAOL FOR BIGAMY.
SHIP'S FIREMAN SENTENCED.
MARRIED TO FRENCH WOMAN.

WELLINGTON, Thursday. Christopher Leo Michael Spellacy aged 80, ship's fireman and grocer, was sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day to nine months' hard labour for bigamy It was stated he married a Frenchwoman in Liverpool in 1913, and had six children. He went through a form of marriage in. 1928 and lived happily for ten years in Wellington. There was one child. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers said not only had the prisoner done serious wrong to his wife and children in England? but he had done serious wrong to the widow whom he deceived and the child he brought into the world.
