THE ANNUAL REPORT.
A SURPLUS ON SEASON,

A successful year Iβ again reviewed by the president of the Whangarei Racing Club, -Mr. R. G. Hosking, in his report covering the, year ended April 30, to be presented at the annual meeting to be held next week.
"Both the spring and autumn meetings were an unqualified success," said Mr. Hosking. "The totalisator investments amounted to £34,(121, and £4720 '10/ wag paid in stakes and for the free transport of horses. Improvements involving considerable expenditure have been effected at Kensington Park. The racing track has been extended and banked at the turns, and when the work is completed it will make the course one of the best country race tracks in the Dominion. The club membership is now 181." , After making provision for depreciation of £478 15/2 the flna nces show a surplus of £363 2/11. Capital expendi- , ture for the year amounted to £930 15/1, and following a settlement of the current liabilities the bank balance at the close of the year will be £1191 15/10, compared with £1433 15/2 at the commencement. The receipts from the spring meeting totalled €5433 12/5, and a net profit remained of £240. At the autumn meeting the receipts were £5907 10/5, and the net profit was £421 8/4. The excess of income over expenditure for the year was £841 18/1. The club's assets are valued at £9123 12/8, including £1704 10/4 in cash,
