BUTTER PAYMENTS.

FARMERS RECEIVE £617,892.

AtTCBULAHD'S SHARE £368,723. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON", this day. Additional payment* on butter and cheese purchased during the 1937-38 season under the guaranteed price plan will be made this morning by the Primary Products Marketing Department. The Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, stated in an interview laet evening that the total sum to be paid out would be £617,892 9/4. Thie amount will be distributed as follows: Auckland, £368,723 2/4; Wellington, £157,653 18/10; New Plymouth, £66,422 16/3; Dunedin, £25,080 11/11. The payments to be made, said Mr. Xash, were in accordance with an Order-in-Council increasing the guaranteed price. This order had just been approved by the Executive Council. The increased payment* would amount to .41d per pound for butter and .21d per pound for cheese on produce manufactured on and after August 1, 1937, and exported up to and inclusive of the eeriee of shipments sailings about June 30.

In addition to the £617,892, payments will be made for the remaining shipmente during the season, and also on •butter and cheese "onsumed on the local market. These will be paid out in the ordinary way, and will bring the total additional payout for the season to about £815,349, which was the estimate given by Mr. Nash at the National Dairy Conference at New Plymouth laet month.
