PARK "BLOWN UP."
WATERLOGGED SURFACE.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WHANGAREI, this day.
Rugby Park was "blown up" this afternoon to release water which, owing to the hard tan which had formed on the surface, has been unable to get away to proper channels. The park will be the venue of the Maori All Black trial to-morrow, and in an endeavour to improve the surface members of the Rugby Union this afternoon tried the experiment of putting down a number of short bores and charging them with gelignite.
