NEW AERODROME.
WESTPORT PROPOSAL.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) i WESTPORT, Sunday. A statement that the Government hoped to establish an aerodrome at Carter's Beach for Cook Strait Airways, was made by the Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, in an address at an air pageant at the Westport Aero Club's aerodrome at North Beach.
Mr. Webb stated that it was hoped that the aerodvome would be completed by the beginning of next winter. Men would be starting work on the project on Monday under the direction of Mr. A. C Bescand, Public Works engineer. Mention was also made of the Government's decision to dredge material from the river and use the silt for reclaiming land with a view to increasing the area of the aerodrome. -
